Who We Are and Why We Exist?

EastMind Collective is a grassroots, youth-led initiative dedicated to raising mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and fostering community support within the East African diaspora.

For too long, conversations about mental health have been met with silence, shame, or misunderstanding. Within our community, cultural and religious beliefs often shape the way mental health is perceived. Many individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or substance-related challenges feel unseen, judged, or even rejected-discouraged from seeking the support they need due to stigma.

At EastMind, we believe healing is a collective effort. Mental wellness is not just about personal struggles; it's about community care, education, and access to culturally relevant resources. Through workshops, creative expression, storytelling, and open conversations, we are building safe spaces where East African youth can seek support without fear, connect with others who understand their experiences, and reclaim their narratives.

Our work is rooted in advocacy, awareness, and empowerment-ensuring that mental health is recognized as a fundamental part of our collective well-being. We invite you to join us in this movement to create a community that embraces compassion, healing, and meaningful change.
